Pallet Racking Buyer’s Guide
Before purchasing our pallet racking, please review our comprehensive Buyer’s Guide to make an informed decision and avoid accidental purchases.
1. Identify Your Racking Brand
If you are looking to extend current racking systems and are unsure on which brand you currently have, please refer to the Pallet Racking Identifier section at the bottom of this page. Whilst some brands may look similar, they must be exactly the same to fit together. If purchasing racking for the first time, ensure that you purchase your beams, frames and locking pins all from the same brand or else they will not fit together.
2. Height and Shelf Spacing
- Measure ceiling clearance to maximise space efficiently.
- Plan shelf spacing by considering your pallet height and clearance for easy loading.
- Factor in the beam thickness and timber decking into you calculations (details in product description).
3. Width and Depth Considerations
- Match your racking dimensions to your pallet size (see photos below for standard pallet dimensions).
- For example: to store three Euro pallets per shelf, shelves should be 1100mm deep and 2700mm wide. This allows for extra space to be able to freely move pallets on and off individually.

4. Weight Rating
- Calculate the maximum weight of the pallets being stored on each shelf.
- The weight rating assigned to each beam is the safe weight shared between two of the same beams, uniformly distributed on them.
- For example: a pair of 2000kg weighted beams can store two pallets with maximum weights of 1000kg each, making the total weight on the shelf 2000kg.
5. Aisle Width
- Large scale fittings need to consider sufficient room to operate forklift trucks and reach trucks.
- Look at the machine specifications for the safe working space for your equipment.
