What we consider, and what sets the value
We buy racking we can resell, so we cannot purchase every system. Send the details below and we will confirm either way.
What we consider
- System and brand
- Link 51, Redirack, Dexion (including P90 and Speedlock), SSI Schaefer, Mecalux, Nedcon, Apex and Constructor. We buy all leading brands, and other makes are considered on quantity and condition.
- Quantity
- Recent takedowns have run from 45 to 650 bays. Smaller quantities are also considered.
- Dimensions
- Upright height and frame depth, beam length and beam section. A tape measure in a photograph is sufficient if you do not hold the specification.
- Condition
- Straight uprights, undamaged footplates, matched beam sets and whether the locking pins are still there.
- Commercial suitability
- Whether the system suits the stock we sell, in the quantity you have, at your location.
What sets the value
There is no fixed price for used racking: the same bay carries a different value on different sites. These are the factors we assess:
- How much of the system can be resold rather than scrapped
- Whether it is complete — frames, beams, pins and any decking
- Condition, and how much damage needs sorting
- Site access for dismantling, stacking and loading
- Whether we dismantle it or you have already done it
- Transport distance from our depot in west Leicestershire
- Your clearance deadline and how much it constrains the programme
We quote per job rather than per bay, and the proposal sets out what the figure covers.
Installed, or already dismantled?
We purchase either. The information we need differs slightly between the two.
Still installed
- Photos along the runs, plus a manufacturer label on an upright
- Rough bay count and how many runs
- Upright height, frame depth and beam length
- Loading access: door heights, yard space and whether a forklift is on site
- Whether the warehouse is still operating around it
Already dismantled
- What is actually there — counts of frames and beams, and any extras
- Whether it is banded, palletised or loose
- Where it is stacked and how a vehicle reaches it
If the brand or sizes are unknown, a photograph of a manufacturer label and a tape measure held against an upright and a beam is normally enough for us to identify the system.

Questions people ask before selling
Do people actually buy used pallet racking?
Yes. It is an established commercial market. We purchase used pallet racking from warehouses that are closing, relocating or changing layout, refurbish what is reusable and resell it. That is also why we cannot buy every system: it has to be stock we can sell on.
Can you collect it and dismantle it as well?
Yes. Our takedown teams dismantle and remove racking, and where that forms part of a purchase we price the buying and the removal together so you get one figure. We also dismantle racking for disposal or relocation rather than resale. If you mainly need it taken out rather than sold, see pallet racking removal and dismantling.
What if I do not know the brand?
This is common and presents no difficulty. Send a close photograph of a manufacturer label on one of the uprights, together with a tape measure held against an upright and a beam. The label and the dimensions are normally enough for us to identify the system.
Can I sell a small quantity?
Yes, subject to assessment. Our recent takedowns have ranged from 45 to 650 bays, so large clearances are what we are equipped for, but smaller quantities are considered on the system, its condition and its location. It costs nothing to ask.
What information do you need from me?
The site postcode, the type of racking, the approximate quantity, whether it is still installed, your clearance date, and a phone number or email address. Photographs are the single most useful item. Anything unknown can be left blank.
What if the racking has little or no resale value?
We will tell you directly rather than make an offer that wastes your time. Racking can be in poor condition, an obsolete system, or too distant to move economically. In that case the work becomes a removal rather than a sale, and we can quote the dismantling and clearance separately. See pallet racking removal and dismantling.
Can you work to our clearance date?
Provide the date with your enquiry and we will confirm what is achievable before you commit. Access, the scale of the work and current scheduling all affect it. We confirm a programme we can hold to rather than commit to a date we cannot.
