Dismantling & Site Clearance
Pallet racking removal and dismantling
We dismantle and remove pallet racking across the UK, from a single run to a full warehouse clearance, whether you are clearing a site you are leaving or taking racking out of a building that is still trading.
- Operating sites and closing sites
- Nationwide, from our Leicestershire base
- Resale value offset where the system suits us
Can you remove ours?
In most cases, yes. We dismantle racking for disposal, resale or relocation, including systems we did not supply. Recent takedowns have run from 45 to 650 bays.
An operating warehouse
Racking can be removed from a building that is still trading. This requires more planning rather than different work: we agree the sequence in which runs come down, how the working area is separated from the operation, and the hours that suit you. Tell us how the site runs and we will build the programme around it.
A site you are leaving
Lease ends and relocations are the more common case. The binding constraints are normally the date and the condition the building must be left in, so those are the first two points we will raise.
If the racking is being moved rather than disposed of, we also re-install at the new site, so one team can handle both ends.
What a removal covers
A typical agreed scope is set out below. Yours is confirmed in writing before work begins, as sites vary more than the work itself.
-
Dismantling the agreed runs
Beams, frames, bracing and any decking taken down in a controlled sequence.
-
Sorting and stacking
Components separated, stacked and banded or palletised so they can be loaded and, where they are being reused, so they arrive in a usable state.
-
Loading and removal
Loaded and taken off site. Where we are buying the system this is the same movement as the collection.
-
Leaving the area clear
The footprint left clear of racking and the components that came with it.
What the written proposal settles
Things that genuinely vary by site are confirmed for your job rather than promised in advance here: how waste and non-reusable steel are handled, what happens to floor fixings and any marking left behind, whether plant is hired in, whether work runs outside normal hours, and what the programme depends on. Ask about any of them with your enquiry and the answer will be in the proposal.
What we need to quote it
You are unlikely to have all of this. The postcode, an approximate size and a few photographs are enough for a useful answer.
The racking
- Roughly how many bays, and how many runs
- The system or brand, if a label is visible
- Upright height and frame depth
- Beam length, and anything sitting on the beams
- Condition, and any damage you already know about
The site
- Site postcode
- Door heights and how a vehicle gets in
- Yard or loading space
- Whether there is a forklift on site
- Whether the building is still operating
The programme
- Your clearance or lease-end date
- Any period the work cannot happen in
- Whether the racking is being scrapped, sold or moved
- Who we deal with on site
Photographs are more useful than measurements. Views along the runs, a manufacturer label on an upright and the loading access normally cover most of the above.
Cost, and what the racking is worth
What drives the cost
- How much racking there is and how it is configured
- Access, and how far components travel to the vehicle
- Whether the building is operating around the work
- The programme, and any restricted hours
- Distance from our base in west Leicestershire
- How much of the system is reusable rather than scrap
Value can offset the cost
The last point carries the most weight. Where the system is one we resell, in a condition and quantity that suits us, its value is set against the removal cost. On suitable projects this reduces the cost materially, and in some cases we are purchasing rather than charging.
We cannot purchase every system, so this is assessed rather than assumed, and we will confirm which applies to your project.
What happens after you enquire
-
You send the details
Use the form below, or WhatsApp if that is easier for photographs.
-
We come back to you
Either with a proposal, or with the few questions we need answered first. Larger or more complex projects may require a site visit, and we will say so rather than quote blind.
-
You get it in writing
The proposal sets out what is being removed, what is included, what we need from your site, the programme and the price, including any value offset against it.
-
We schedule and do the work
Dates agreed with you, then dismantling, loading and removal as set out.
Takedowns we have done
Our Pembrokeshire project combined the purchase and dismantling of 500 bays of Link 51 racking, removal in three articulated-lorry loads and associated floor-fixing work. Read the Pembrokeshire case study.

Send what you have. The postcode, the approximate quantity and a few photographs are enough to begin, and we will request anything further.
Common questions
Do we have to sell you the racking to have it removed?
No. We dismantle racking for disposal and relocation as well as resale, including systems we did not supply. Where the racking does suit us, its value is set against the removal cost, which is the better commercial outcome, but it is not a condition of the work.
Can you work around our operation?
Yes, and it is common. It affects the sequencing rather than the work itself. Tell us how the building operates and which areas must remain available, and the programme and quotation are built around that.
What if we do not know what the racking is?
Send a photograph of a manufacturer label on one of the uprights, and a tape measure held against an upright and a beam. That is normally sufficient for us to identify the system.
Can you hit our lease-end date?
Provide the date with your enquiry and we will confirm what is achievable before you commit. It depends on the scale of the work, the access and current scheduling. We confirm a programme we can hold to.
Do you work outside the Midlands?
Yes. Our teams work across the UK from our base in west Leicestershire; recent projects include Cheshire, South Wales, Sheffield, Birmingham, Harrow, Guildford and Middlesbrough. Distance affects the price rather than preventing the work.
