Another full warehouse project completed by the Rack It Stack It team. For this Milton Keynes site we designed and installed a 120 bay Link 51 VNA pallet racking system, giving the customer strong pallet capacity while keeping low-level picking accessible.
The system uses 4500mm x 1100mm Link 51 frames with 2225mm beams rated to 2000kg per level. Pallet locations sit above low-level picking shelves, and the runs are laid out for very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks with end barriers protecting the aisle entries.

A VNA Layout Designed Around the Customer's Stock
A VNA layout reduces aisle widths so more runs of racking fit into the same floor area. That only works when the layout is planned properly, so the project started with a full CAD drawing covering run positions, aisle widths, beam levels and the end barriers, agreed with the customer before any racking was delivered.
Combining picking shelves on the lower levels with pallet locations above gives the customer the best of both: hand-picked stock at ground level and bulk pallet storage overhead, all within the same footprint.
Around 50% Saved Compared With New Racking
By choosing quality used Link 51 racking, the customer saved around 50% compared with buying new racking of the same specification. Link 51 is one of the most widely used pallet racking systems in the UK, so used frames, beams and components are available in the quantities a project like this needs, and the finished system loses nothing in capacity or usability.
It is a good example of how the right layout and quality used racking can significantly reduce the cost of a warehouse fit-out without compromising on what the racking has to do.
Installed in 5 Days
Our SEIRS-registered installation teams completed the full 120 bay installation in five days, including the picking shelves and end barriers, working to the agreed drawing so the customer could start loading the racking straight after handover.
