A Storage System Designed for Long Timber Products
Timber can be particularly challenging to store due to the length, weight and variety of products held within a busy timber yard.
Standard pallet racking is usually divided by upright frames, which can restrict the length of material that can be stored within each bay. Cantilever racking removes these front obstructions, allowing long pieces of timber to be stored horizontally across a series of supporting arms.
This open-front design gives forklift operators clear access to the stock, making it easier to load, identify and retrieve different timber products.
This helps create a more organised storage area while improving the movement of materials around the yard.
Heavy-Duty Capacity
Each cantilever arm within the installation was designed to support loads of up to 1,000kg.
The system was carefully planned around the size and weight of the timber being stored, ensuring that the finished installation could safely handle the demands of a busy commercial timber operation.
Using the available height also allowed them to store more material within the same footprint, reducing the amount of valuable yard space taken up by timber stored at ground level.
Different timber lengths and product types can be separated across the racking levels, helping the team keep stock organised and quickly accessible.

As the system was being installed outside, a galvanised finish was essential.
Galvanised racking provides increased protection against corrosion and the effects of exposure to changing weather conditions, making it particularly suitable for external yards and demanding industrial environments.

Bespoke Roof Protection
Alongside the main cantilever racking structure, we also installed a custom roof across the system.
The roof was designed specifically for the installation and provides additional protection for the stored timber from rain and changing weather conditions.
Integrating a roof into a cantilever system requires careful planning and accurate installation. The structure must work alongside the racking without restricting access to the timber or interfering with everyday loading and unloading operations.
The completed roof was engineered and fitted to a high standard, creating a practical covered storage area while maintaining full access to the racking below.
Precisely Levelled and Professionally Installed
Outdoor installations can present additional challenges, particularly where ground levels vary across a long run of racking.
Across the full 45-metre installation, our team carefully checked and levelled the structure to ensure the system was correctly aligned and securely installed.
The work was completed by SEIRS-qualified installers and carried out in accordance with recognised industry installation practices.
Correct installation is essential with any heavy-duty storage system. Even small inaccuracies can affect the way loads are distributed through the structure, particularly when the racking is five metres high and supporting substantial timber loads.
