We’re delighted to share the successful completion of our latest racking installation in Guildford.
Our customer approached us ahead of the Christmas period, having secured a new unit to support the expansion of their business. Following a detailed site visit, we worked closely with them to agree a layout that would make the most effective use of the available space.
Given that the majority of stored items were lightweight clothing garments, a light-duty Link 51 racking system was the ideal solution. The design featured single runs of racking accessible from both sides, creating a tall picking-shelf effect to maximise efficiency. To suit the light-duty application, we installed 500kg stepped beams paired with 18mm slatted timber decking, using reduced 25mm gaps to prevent items from falling through.
The racking was installed at 6 metres high and 900mm deep, ensuring safe and comfortable access for operatives on both sides without excessive reach. Due to the tight footprint of the unit, precise measurements were critical to allow sufficient space for manoeuvring a scissor lift at the ends of each aisle.
With the customer keen to begin operations immediately, the installation had to be completed as soon as the keys were handed over—adding significant time pressure. Despite this, our team delivered the full installation within just two days, much to the customer’s satisfaction.
