Triton TWCS5 five-piece wood chisel set held in its open ballistic nylon pouch

Triton professional woodworking tools

TWCS5 5-Piece Wood Chisel Set

Five bevel-edge chisels covering 6, 13, 19, 25 and 32mm, which is the working range most carpentry and joinery jobs actually call for — paring a hinge recess at one end of the set, cleaning out a wide housing at the other.

Each chisel is built the way a chisel that gets hit should be: a hardened chrome vanadium blade, a forged tang running right through the handle, and a nickel-plated steel cap on the end to take the mallet. The edges are precision-ground from new and can be resharpened as they wear, so the set stays in service rather than being replaced.

Key Features

Several Triton TWCS5 chisels in the storage pouch with the 13mm and 25mm blade markings visible
Five Precision Chisel Sizes

Blade widths of 6, 13, 19, 25 and 32mm cover fine joinery through to wider housings and clean-out work. Each blade is marked with its size.

Chrome Vanadium Steel Blades

Hardened chrome vanadium blades with precision-ground cutting edges, resharpenable so the set keeps working as the edges wear back.

Nickel-plated steel striking cap on the end of a Triton TWCS5 chisel handle
Nickel-Plated Striking Caps

A large steel cap closes the end of each handle to take repeated mallet blows, with the force carried down the forged tang-through core.

Two-tone ergonomic soft-grip handle on a Triton TWCS5 wood chisel
Two-Tone Soft-Grip Handles

Shaped two-tone grips give a controlled hold for paring by hand and a secure one when the chisel is being struck.

Ballistic nylon storage pouch supplied with the Triton TWCS5 chisel set
Ballistic Nylon Storage Pouch

All five chisels stow in the supplied pouch, each in its own elasticated loop, so the edges are not knocking together in a tool bag.

The Five Sizes

  • 6mmFine detail and narrow mortises
  • 13mmGeneral joinery and hinge work
  • 19mmEveryday trimming and fitting
  • 25mmWider housings and paring

Sizes confirmed against the markings on the blades themselves and the printed pack. Some third-party listings for this model quote a 12mm second chisel; the stocked set is marked 13mm.

Five Chisels. One Complete Set.

  • The sizes you reach for. 6 to 32mm covers hinge and lock work, housings, tenon cheeks and general trimming without gaps in the range.
  • Built to be struck. Nickel-plated steel caps take mallet blows directly, rather than the mallet landing on bare plastic.
  • Force goes where it should. The forged tang runs the full length of the handle, so blows drive the blade instead of working the joint loose.
  • Hardened edges that resharpen. Chrome vanadium blades come precision-ground and can be honed back as they dull.
  • Comfortable for hand work. Two-tone soft-grip handles suit paring and fitting, not just struck cuts.
  • Stored properly between jobs. The ballistic nylon pouch keeps the set together and the edges apart.
  • Every blade marked. Sizes are stamped on the blades, so the right chisel comes out of the pouch first time.

Ideal Applications

  • Carpentry
  • Joinery
  • Cabinetmaking
  • Timber trimming
  • Wood shaping
  • Door and hinge fitting
  • Furniture work

  • General DIY

What's in the Pack?

  • 5 ×Bevel-edge wood chisels — 6, 13, 19, 25 and 32mm
  • 1 ×Ballistic nylon storage pouch

Triton's pack contents are the five chisels and the pouch. The blades are shown in the photographs with plastic edge guards fitted as supplied; these are protection for the edges and are not listed by Triton as a separate accessory. No mallet, sharpening stone or honing guide is included.

Looking After Them

A sharp chisel is a safer chisel. A dull edge needs more force and is far more likely to skid off the cut. Hone the edges back as they wear rather than pushing harder.

Strike the cap with a proper woodworking mallet, not a steel hammer. Wipe the blades dry after use and store them in the pouch so the ground edges are not knocking against other tools. Cut away from your body, keep both hands behind the edge, and clamp or otherwise secure the workpiece before you start.
